VERIFICATION OF SOME METHODS OF VEGETATIVE PROPAGATION OF STEVIA

Abstract
Most suitable methods of vegetative propagation with
the help of cuttings in the genus Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni, leaves of which
contain the natural non-saccharide sweetener were verified. The experiments
took place at the Czech University of Agriculture during the years 1996 - 1997.
Three experiments focused to the ability of rooting of stem and tip cuttings,
determination of propagation coefficient and optimum period of rooting of tip
cuttings were realized.
On the basis of the results obtained there can be stated, that the most suitable
method for practical propagation in large scale production is the utilization
of tip ste-via cuttings, under the climatic conditions of Czech Republic during
May and the beginning of June.
