DETERMINATION OF NUMBER OF CHROMOSOMES IN SELECT ECOTYPES OF YACON (POLYMNIA SONCHIFOLIA POEPPIG AND ENDLICHER) CULTIVATED IN VITRO

Abstract
An inevitable part of procedures making use of in
vitro cultures for propagation and preservation of plant materials is observation
their stability including cytological analyses. Due to these reasons the control
of number of chromosomes was performed in part of in vitro collection of yaeon
in Czech Republic. Cytological determination of number of chromosomes in three
ecotypes of y aeon preserved in vitro cultures on MS (MURASHIGE and SKOOG, 1962)
medium proved that all ecotypes observed have identical number of chromosomes
- 58 (2n).
